Boulder JFS held its fifth annual fundraiser, “Reel Hope Boulder,” on Saturday night at the Boulder JCC, and it was the most successful outing of the series.  Hollywood writer Bruce Vilanch not only entertained the crowd while being interviewed by Ron Bostwick, but did so for free, raising the net amount available for operations from the night’s take.  In addition to Vilanch, new JFS CEO Shepard Nevel addressed the audience, and JFS of Colorado Board Chair Charlie Gwirtsman was in attendance. Thanks to a match offered up by Jerry and Gail Sloat, the event raised over $90,000 for JFS of Colorado’s Boulder operation, led by Cathy Summer. Read More

The gay, male reboot of “Golden Girls” has hit a roadblock.

“Golden Girls” writers Stan Zimmerman and James Berg had announced they were pitching a pilot for a show titled “Silver Foxes,” a comedy series about four, older gay men living together.

George Takei, Leslie Jordan, Bruce Vilanch and Todd Sherry had already done a table read as the core four. Daniele Gaither and Cheri Oteri also read for the lesbian neighbors. Zimmerman told Fox News a Betty White guest appearance was also planned.

However, Zimmerman says homophobia has kept the show from being developed. Read More

Kritzerland has announced a new concert event coming on Sunday, April 2, 2017 entitled “The April Fools.” This entertaining evening will take place at Sterling’s Upstairs at the Federal in North Hollywood, California.

For the 76th Kritzerland show, we have our annual wild and wacky April Fools show, always a favorite for us at Kritzerland. You can always expect the unexpected – you’ll get some Spring songs, some April songs, and some Foolish and crazy songs – as always, you’ll know some and many you won’t know at all – for this iteration, we have songs from several flop musicals we all know and love, including Carmelina, Bring Back Birdie, We Take the Town, Minsky’s, and others, while we also have songs from Promises, Promises, Hallelujah, Baby, Annie, Newsies, as well as some classic pop standards.
